Brief notes on functioning of Tripura Livestock Development Agency

The State Livestock Board was established during the year 2009 named as Tripura Livestock Development Agency. The existing infrastructure and manpower of ICDP-I and II has been utilized for the functioning of TLDA. The Governing body has been formed with 8 members under the President ship of Hon,ble Minister, ARDD.

The TLDA caters the activities of Cattle Development of the State. The brief activities are as follows:

  1. Up gradation of Non-descriptive cattle and Buffalo of the state through Artificial Insemination, Natural breeding through improved bull in remote area where AI facility is scarce.
  2. Conduction of Governing body meeting on regular basis.
  3. The activities conducted as per resolution of said meeting & also as per guideline of Govt. of India pertaining to NPBB under the umbrella of Rashtriya Gokul Mission.
  4. Supply of AI logistics like FS straw, LN2, all AI equipments in all the AI institutions and private AI workers in the state.
  5. Regular training of professionals  outside and inside the state for skill up gradation
  6. Regular training of existing AI workers inside and outside the state for up gradation of skill.
  7. Refresher training for private AI workers inside the state.
  8. Training of newly inducted private AI workers.
  9. Organization of fertility camp on regular basis throughout the state by expert professionals
  10. Conduction of awareness camp for augmentation of milk production in the state
  11. Promotion of up gradation of local cattle through milk yield competition and calf rally.
  12. Implementation of State Plan Scheme: ‘Supply of Calf growth meal’ to the female calf born out of AI on subsidized rate to encourage the owner as well as improvement of general health.
  13. Implementation of State Plan Scheme like ‘A.I. Programme’ and NEC Project viz. ’Distribution of Pregnant Heifers among the farmers’.
  14. Regular supervision and monitoring the AI activities in the state through AI Co-coordinators.
  15. Regular follow up and calving up programme by field professional on regular basis.

1. HRS Beneficiaries are inducted in the scheme depending upon the age of heifers (2months to 28 months). Hence, some beneficiaries are inducted in the middle of the year as the calves attain 2 months of age and some are excluded when the heifers attain 28 months in any point of time in the year.

2. Beneficiaries contribution from 4 dist. i.e. West, Sipahijala, Khowai & South Dist. are collected by TLDA. For other 4 dist. Where CGM is outsourced, those are collected by respective DDs.
